Why TSS?

We believe the education of a child is not just an intellectual discourse. It involves the holistic development of the child which prepares them for the realities of life.

At the Sanctuary Montessori, our approach focuses on the following areas:

ACADEMIC APPROACH
  • Our academic approach to education at the Preschool level mainly focuses on the
Montessori system whilst the Primary level runs a hybrid of the GES and the British (Cambridge International) Curricular. This is to give our students a solid foundation to build on at the high school level, both in Ghana and outside Ghana.
  • Delivering a balanced and effective curriculum, using modern pedagogies with flexible approaches to teaching and learning to promote academic excellence.
  • Providing a safe, secure, stimulating, and caring educational environment where children can grow and develop.
  • Developing learners, taking into consideration their individual capabilities and potentials.
  • The use of relevant technology in teaching and learning, administration and general operations.
  • Our class sizes are to the barest minimum. We operate a maximum of 15 learners per class at the Preschool level, with two teachers; one strictly for academic work and the other in charge of learners’ care and welfare. The Primary and JHS levels have a maximum number of 20 learners per class. This is so to cater for and reach out to the individual learners and their specific needs.
  • We also use the Student-Centered Approach and the Experiential Learning in our delivery of lessons. This is because we believe that student learning is improved at each level when learners are made an important part of the learning process, their individual needs met and the learning process made real for them.
  • We operate a system of strict lesson monitoring and evaluation of the teaching and learning process. The Head of Academics pays at least one full lesson visit to each teacher to assess the effectiveness of their teaching and whether or not learners are able to grasp concepts delivered.
  • Learning Assistance Programme: This is an academic programme that assigns teachers to academically weaker students so that such learners are assisted with their learning. This is usually done on a one-on-one basis to take these learners through concepts they may have not understood during the main stream lessons.
  • Open Day Sessions: We are very intentional about parents’ engagement and feedback on everything we do at TSM. Each term we set aside a day for parents to walk in and have a one-on-one discussion with teachers regarding the academics and general well- being of their wards.
CARE AND WELFARE APPROACH

The campus-based Head in charge of care and welfare issues is responsible for ensuring the following:

  • Classroom and General School hygiene.
  • Students’ personal hygiene which includes proper and regularized hand washing
    practices.
  • Enforcing students are in clean and appropriate uniforms at all times.
  • That students come in with their daily brings such as cutlery, water bottles, diapers,
    etc.
  • Students are well fed during breakfast, lunch and after school meal times.
  • Health needs – first aid when the need arises
  • Counseling services: this is to ensure that learners are guided and placed on track at
all times with regards to character formation through the progressive and positive discipline tools.
  • And ultimately, ensuring that every child in our care is a happy child!
CHRISTIAN VALUES, CONFIDENCE AND SOFT SKILLS BUILDING APPROACH

We build the confidence of our learners through the following co/extra-curricular programs under the supervision and coordination of the Extra/Co-curricular Manager:

  • Christian upbringing which includes class-based discipleship, school worship, class devotion. These help to instill Godly principles which prepares the child for life
  • Fostering self-respect, self-discipline, independence, and organizational skills for success in this rapidly changing world.
  • To help in the character formation and confidence building of the child by offering a holistic approach to education through our Child Development Program which offers subjects such as Principles of Life, Personal Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Practical Life, African Stories, and News Time.
  • Sports to take care of their physical wellness

MULTI CAMPUS OPERATIONAL STRUCTURE
  • Multi Campus Pre School-System and One Main Primary:
At The Sanctuary Montessori, we run a multiple preschool system. This is to bring quality Pre-school education and an enriched foundation to the doorsteps of parents in and around Sekondi –Takoradi, the western region and all across Ghana, in the long run.

We believe that once a good foundation is created for students, they can seamlessly build upon that wherever they find themselves in or outside TSM.
We have one main Primary and JHS department that absorbs our students after their Preschool and KG education.
  • Campus Based Heads for Effective Monitoring and Evaluation of Standards:
To ensure the effective and efficient monitoring of standards, each campus has two heads: The Head of Academics in charge of academic operations and The Head of Students’ Affairs in charge of students’ welfare and general grooming.
